Smith leads the way

ATHLETICS: OLDHAM and Royton Harriers were at Witton Park for their Red Rose Cross Country League match.
The under-11s boys race saw Robert Smith (6:13) finish eighth, ahead of Connor Colleavy (14th, 6:42).
Thomas Jackson (15:32) was 22nd in the under-13s' 3,000m event, Mike Smith (13:36) was fifth in the under-15s' race ahead of Josh Donald (29th, 16:08).
Mark Mannings (24:16) was 19th in the under-17s' race while brother Mark (39:42) was 16th in the senior event.
The men's team was 11th overall thanks to Trevor Davies (23rd, 40:15), David Smith (81st, 45:50), Brian Schofield (102nd, 47:55), Karl Smith (117th, 50:33), Pete Williams (123rd, 51:23) and Darren Mannings (131st, 51:44).
