Controversial climax
12/ 9/2007
THREE late tries saw Hollinwood beaten 40-24 by a Liversedge side they had matched for the majority of the game.
Hollinwood had trailed 18-14 at half-time, Pete Jackson and Mike Richmond crossing for tries with Paul Brooks adding two conversions and a penalty for the local side.
Having seen their hosts go 10 points ahead at 24-14 in the second half, Hollinwood replied with a brace of tries from Alistair Williams, Brooks adding one conversion as a surprise looked on the cards.
With the scores level at 24-24 with 15 minutes remaining, Liversedge were awarded a penalty for alleged ball stealing from which they crossed for a disputed try.
That lifted the home side, deflating Hollinwood in the process as Liversedge scored two late tries to give them what was a flattering margin of victory.
