Sam’s bronze

OLDHAM and Royton Harriers' Sam Witter was part of Greater Manchester team that won bronze at the English Schools Cross Country Championships.

Five athletes travelled to Wilmslow for the Asics Wilmslow Half Marathon.

Pete Williams (1:32) was first home, followed by Louise Clarkson (1:38.26), Sara Bott (1:48.38), Sandrine Fraisse (1:48.50) and Charlotte Ashton (1:55.35).

On the track, Oldham's Megan and Bobbie-Leigh Tindall competed at the Indoor meeting at the City of Manchester track.

The under-nines events saw Megan run the 60m in 10.7s, the 200m in 37.2s and long jump to 1.18m.

Bobbie-Leigh competed in the under-13s events, running the 60m in 8.9s, the 200m in 29.0s and the 400m in 71s.

Sam Witter ran his first 800m of the season at Warrington, finishing in 2:10.
