Rampant Rangers rack up half-century

SADDLEWORTH moved into second spot in the division two of the National Conference League as nine tries gave them a comfortable victory at Shaw Hall Bank Road.

However, a tight first half saw them lead 18-6 at half-time with Frazer Coley, Neil Kirwan and prop Emerson Jackman crossing for tries. Three goals from Danny Atherton completed the first-half scoring.

The second half was one-way traffic though as Saddleworth crossed for another six tries.

Chris Garforth led the way, scoring a hat-trick, while Michael Rowe, Lee Barker and Jimmy Rogers added the others.

Loose forward Atherton belied the blustery conditions, adding five goals for a personal tally of eight conversions from nine attempts.

Leaders Waterhead were not in action though as their game at Crosfields was postponed.
