Werneth's hard-fought victory

THE teams at the bottom of the Oldham and District Table Tennis division one table took centre stage with Rosehill B earning four points in their 6-4 loss against Werneth B.

Honeywell A helped their cause with a draw against Uppermill A, while Hollinwood B and Hollinwood C are close to the relegation places after defeats to Hyde YMCA and Hollinwood A, 6-4 and 8-2 respectively.

The mid-table clash between OTTC A and Rosehill A ended in a 6-4 victory for OTTC A.

Hollinwood E eased their division two relegation worries with a 7-3 win at Failsworth A, while the other relegation battle saw bottom side Pennine get the better of Hollinwood D 6-4.

Unison A beat Pennine 9-1, Coldhurst A saw off Uppermill B 6-4, the score by which Grotton A defeated Werneth C, while Honeywell Lane C won 7-3 against Unison B.

Division three's match of the week brought a draw between leaders Gilders A and third-placed Unison C, which was also the outcome in the game between second-placed Werneth D and Owls in fourth.

Honeywell D and Coldhurst B were 7-3 winners against Unison D and Coldhurst C respectively, while Failsworth B defeated Gilders B 6-4.

Uppermill strengthened second place in division four with a whitewash of Coldhurst F, while third-placed Honeywell F beat their G side 9-1.

Failsworth's E and F teams drew, while there was a 7-3 victory for OTTC B against Werneth F, the score by which Owls B lost both their games against Werneth E and Saddleworth CC.
