Glodwick in prime position at halfway

THE halfway point of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League season arrived with Glodwick eight points clear of Aerospace A in division one.

They continued to head the table after defeating Aerospace's B team 9-1 while their nearest challengers were whitewashing Werneth B.

Last year's champions Werneth A are in fourth place after a 5-5 draw with Hollinwood A, Hyde YMCA A's all round strength got the better of Hollinwood C, while Honeywell Lane and Rosehill A shared the points in an excellent match.

In division two, bottom club Pennine did their chances of avoiding relegation the power of good by way of a 6-4 defeat of Honeywell B.

That was the score by which second-bottom club Uppermill B were victorious against Failsworth A, while Unison B and Hollinwood E shared the spoils.

At the top, Unison A moved clear of the other sides after recording a 9-1 victory over Coldhurst A.

Gilders A look well set in division three after coming away from Oldham Owls with an 8-2 victory.

Grotton B remain in contention after a comprehensive 9-1 victory over Coldhurst B, Gilders B continue to look for their first win of the season after losing by the same score against Unison D, while the mid-table clash between Honeywell D and Coldhurst C went the way of Honeywell, 7-3.

Division four's runaway leaders Coldhurst D extended their lead at the top of the table by whitewashing Failsworth E.

Nearest challengers Werneth F are now one point clear of Uppermill C after a 9-1 victor, while third-placed Uppermill C defeated Honeywell G 7-3.

Mid-table Coldhurst E and Honeywell F shared a 5-5 draw and Failsworth F registered a crushing 10-0 victory over Coldhurst F.
