Leaders extend advantage

GLODWICK extended their lead at the top of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League division one after defeating second-placed Aerospace A 7-3.

The battle between struggling Rosehill B and Honeywell Lane A ended in the teams sharing the points, as did the match involving Hollinwood C and Rosehill A.

Werneth A and Hollinwood A both cemented their places in the top four with emphatic 9-1 and 8-2 victories respectively against Uppermill and Werneth B.

In division two, Werneth C remained top after a resounding 9-1 victory over bottom club Pennine, while there were 8-2 wins for Unison A and Failsworth A against Unison B and Honeywell B respectively.

Honeywell C prevailed 7-3 against Hollinwood E, while Hyde YMCA B got the better of Hollinwood D 6-4.

The top-of-the-table match in division three saw Gilders A beat Werneth D 7-3, which was also the score in the mid-table game as Grotton B saw off Honeywell D whose E team beat Failsworth C by the same score.

Owls A's 8-2 victory over Failsworth B saw them move into second place, while the other game saw Gilders B remain at the bottom of the table after losing 6-4 against Coldhurst B.

In division four, Coldhurst D went clear at the top as they whitewashed Honeywell G and nearest challengers Coldhurst E lost 6-4 to Failsworth F.

Owls B whitewashed Coldhurst F, there were 9-1 wins for Werneth's E and F sides against Rosehill C and Failsworth E respectively, while Uppermill C edged out Honeywell F 6-4.
