Stott’s treble triumph

THE outstanding performance of the week in the Oldham and District Table Tennis League saw Ian Stott record three wins as Rosehill defeated Werneth A 6-4 in division one.

Uppermill A ran out 9-1 victors over Aerospace B, Gary Crossley and Glen Hewitt both contributing three wins, while Hollinwood B got the better of Honeywell Lane A 6-4 and Aerospace A defeated Hollinwood A 8-2.

Glodwick were emphatic 10-0 winners over Rosehill B, while the remaining game saw OTTC A draw 5-5 with Hollinwood C in an entertaining match.

In division two, Pennine came away from Hyde YMCA B with a creditable 5-5 draw, while there were 7-3 victories for Werneth C and Grotton against Coldhurst A and Failsworth A respectively.

A good all-round performance saw Unison A prevail 8-2 against First Transport, the score by which Hyde YMCA B saw off Hollinwood E, while the other game played saw a 9-1 victory for Honeywell C over Uppermill B.

After an amazing 26 successive wins, Gilders A's Adi Elweila's unbeaten run ended when he lost in 5 close sets to Grotton B's Steve Smith. However, Gilders still won their division three match 9-1.

Mick Pellowe was undefeated in Werneth D's 7-3 victory over Failsworth C, Coldhurst C and Unison C fought out a 5-5 draw, Failsworth B defeated Honeywell E 7-3 in another entertaining match, which was also the score which which Honeywell D defeated Gilder's B.

In division four's battle of the Coldhurst teams, the D side got the better of the E players 9-1.

Saddleworth CC defeated Werneth E 7-3, OTTC B triumphed 8-2 against Failsworth E, while the remaining games saw wins for Owls B against Honeywell G (9-1), Werneth F over Coldhurst F (10-0) and Honeywell F against Failsworth (9-1).
