Diggle in round three

22/11/2006

DIGGLE'S first team recorded their eighth consecutive victory when they moved into round three of the Huddersfield FA Challenge Cup with a 2-1 win over Syngenta.

In another game where they failed to convert their dominance into goals, Diggle began brightly with Neil Rennie and Gareth Goddard going close when they should have scored.

They took the lead when Steve Scoltock blasted home to give them a 1-0 advantage at half-time.

Looking uneasy at the start of the second half, Diggle saw their lead cancelled out when Tom Matley was harshly adjudged to have conceded a penalty which Syngenta duly converted.

However, they quickly recovered their composure and scored again within two minutes when Scoltock scored from six yards at the back post.

Elsewhere, Diggle's seconds beat Meltham's reserves 6-0 in the Junior Cup, but the thirds lost their match 5-4 against Scholes' reserves.
