Ex-Skuse me, that’s a record!

28/ 6/2006

PETER Skuse orchestrated a record-breaking league triumph for Saddleworth by clocking up an incredible 250 runs not out against Droylsden on Saturday.

The Australian batman's impressive tally was the best individual score, for a first-team game, to ever be recorded in the Per-Fit Windows Saddleworth and District Cricket League and as a result secured the Saddleworth side a place in the league record books for their 410 for five total from 45 overs.

During his 159-ball spell at the wicket, Skuse hit 28 fours and 15 sixes, ousting previous record holder - Micklehurst's Omar Henry (243) - from the top spot which he had occupied for 27 years. In reply Droylsden made 257 for four, Gourav Sharma was their top scorer with 101 runs and took out five Saddleworth wickets for 127.

On Sunday Saddleworth progressed into the semi-finals of the Tanner Cup with a 32-run victory over Hollinwood.
