OLDHAM and Royton Harriers' young athletes travelled to Witton Park, Blackburn for a UK Young Athletes League match.

Ashley Price set the tone with wins in the 100m (12.7s) and long jump (5.23m) and a second place over 200m (24.9s).

Danny Murphy set personal bests in the triple jump (9.94m) and discus (21.24m) and ran well over 3,000m (11:26.9), an event featuring team-mate Mark Mannings (11:56.7) who also threw the discus (20.47m).

Under-13s competitor Emma Peters won the 1,200m (4:38.9) and performed well in the long jump (3.23m) and 75m (13.2s).

Jake Regan won his first under-13s 800m race for the club in 2:40.3 before throwing the shot 5.27m.

Club debutant Josh Donald competed well in the 800m (2:56.6), the shot (4.39m) and long jump (3.21m), while Mike Smith jumped the same distance before winning the 1,500m in a personal best of 4:55.6.
