Battle of the bowl-outs

CRICKET: THE worst May weather in the club's history prevented any on-field action for luckless Roytonians in both Saturday's Winkley Wood Cup and Sundays LCB Knockout competitions.
Unlike the previous weeks though, both matches at the Lancaster Club had to be decided by a bowl-out.
Saturday saw Steve Webb's side lose 2-0 to division three club Vertex A, while the following day saw them trail 1-0 early on against Horwich League side Lee Lane Congs.
However, the visitors failed to capitalise on their good start and a wicket each for Darren Wrigley and teenager Matty Hall gave Roytonians a 2-1 victory and a place in round two against Bolton Metropolitans Degham Hibbert who beat Ashton and Oldham Alliance side St Annes 2-0.
