Byron go nap

26/ 4/2006

LAST weekend's action in the Glyn Webb Oldham Sunday League saw division two leaders Byron Street book their place in the Challenge Cup final after beating top-flight Failsworth Athletic 5-1.

The other semi-final brought a 3-2 win for 3D Dynamos A against Dog Inn which gave them their first final appearance.

In the Premier Division, High Crompton were crowned champions without playing after nearest challengers Orb drew 2-2 with Shaw Athletic, a result which relegated Pine Villa Youth.

Sun Inn also ended Royton Band Club's hopes of runners-up spot by way of a 5-2 victory.

The only division one game saw Coppice United maintain the pressure on Chaddy End with a comfortable 6-3 win over Parkside who were relegated in the process.

3D Dynamos B went top of division two with a 5-2 win against Manor Inn, putting pressure on Byron Street and Hollins who were not in action.

At the other end of the table, Top House failed to escape the relegation places as they lost 4-3 against Westwood Wanderers.

In division three, Big Shorts' 5-3 win over Royton Athletic saw them promoted and closing in on leaders Fitton Hill Rangers as they are now a point adrift with two games in hand.

Rifle Range moved off the bottom of the table with a 3-2 victory against Red Star while Boundary Park Old Boys defeated Waggon and Horses 3-0.
