Working hard

ROYTON golfer Rachel Connor showed the value of hard work as she recorded top finishes in two ranking tournaments.

The 15-year-old GCSE student at Our Lady's was runner-up in the Scottish under-16s girls championship and third place in the Formby Leveret.

There was not much joy for Saddleworth teams in the Manchester Alliance team events as the Dunham Forest team were well beaten at Werneth Low, while the men's Foursomes team went out 4-3 against Manchester.

Oldham lost 5-2 at Shrigley Hall in the men's Foursomes and their Archie Preston Mixed Foursomes team lost 7-0 at Tytherington.

However, Oldham Ladies bounced back to make progress in the Mail on Sunday national team KO with a 3.5-1.5 success.
