Panthers pull away

5/ 4/2006

TWO late interception tries saw Castleford Panthers secure a 34-16 victory against Saddleworth Rangers although the scoreline flatters the league leaders.

Rangers produced a good performance which saw them level at 16-16 with only 15 minutes remaining.

Steve Jagger and Jimmy Rogers scored first-half tries which, coupled with Adam Kirwan's goal, left Saddleworth trailing 12-10 at half-time.

Two goals put Castleford 16-10 up but Kirwan's try and goal levelled the match before late tries eventually gave Castleford victory.

Having played Waterhead as the Advertiser went to press, this weekend sees Saddleworth away at Leigh Miners Rangers in the last eight of the GMB Union National Cup.
