A happy birthday

BARRY Greaves celebrated his 50th birthday by leading home the 16 Royton Road Runners athletes who competed in the Dentdale 14-mile race at Dent in Cumbria.
In a field of 350 runners, he finished 29th in 1:34.23, closely followed by Bernard Cassidy (33rd, 1:35.06), David Emanuel (43rd, 1:37.30), John Williamson (47th, 1:38.55), Bernard Goodwin (56th, 1:40.28) and Bryan Lawton (58th, 140:51).
Stuart Carroll was 82nd in 1:44.20, ahead of Debbie Shaw whose 83rd place in 1:44.40 was enough for second place in the ladies' over-40s race.
John Kane was 90th in 1:45.29, ahead of Christopher Eavers (103rd, 1:48.34), Trevor Grundy (143rd, 1:53.18), Jeff Cordwell (154th, 1:54.55), Phil Hollins (159th, 1:55.43), Ian Casey (178th, 1:57.39), Helen Knight (244th, 2:07.11) and Tony Hunking (292nd, 2:16.52).
