High Crompton reach a Summit

LAST weekend's action in the Glyn Webb Oldham Sunday League put the emphasis on divisional Shield action.

The first round of the Premier Division's competition brought a 3-2 win for High Crompton CC at Summit Inn and a 2-0 victory for Sun Inn over Pine Villa Youth.

The second round saw Dog Inn make the semi-finals with a 5-1 at Shaw Athletic, while Failsworth Athletic joined them after a 4-3 win at holders Orb.

Division one leaders Chaddy End exited at the second round stage with a 1-0 loss at Coppice United, while Haughton Athletic beat Clayton Athletic 6-1 and White Hart defeated Church Inn 6-3. The game between FC Paris and Parkside ended 2-2.

Division two's first round game between Westwood Wanderers and Top House was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch

The second round tie between 3D Dynamos B and Wellington suffered a similar fate, although Byron Street beat Wheatsheaf 8-2 and Manor easily overcame Junction Premier 5-1.

Division three's first round brought a 4-0 victory for Big Shorts at Fitton Hill Rangers and a 4-3 win for Royton Athletic against Limehurst Victoria.

In round two, Rifle Range progressed with a 4-1 win at Grasshoppers and Old Grey Mare beat Red Star 5-4 on penalties after their match ended 2-2.

League action saw 3D Dynamos A defeat Shaw FC 3-0 in the Premier Division, but the division three encounter between Boundary Park Old Boys and Waggon and Horses was the victim of another waterlogged pitch.
