Promotion winners take DePledge

THE Oldham table tennis team of Phil Myers, Dave Buckley and Jon DePledge have booked a spot in next season's Lancashire and Cheshire League's Premier Division.

A pair of 6-0 victories against Manchester and Preston, as well as a 4-2 win over Halton, were enought to secure a second successive promotion.

Division one of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League brought a 10-0 whitewash for BAE A against bottom club Werneth C, allowing them to keep up the pressure on leaders Werneth A.

OTTC A could only manage a draw with Glodwick, Hollinwood B beat OTTC B 8-2, while Rosehill B's 9-1 loss to Werneth B sends them into a relegation spot.

Uppermill A remain well clear at the top of division two after an 8-2 win over Hollinwood D whose C team drew with Hyde YMCA B.

Honeywell C continued their good run by disposing of their B team 8-2, Failsworth A recorded a 7-3 victory at Grotton A, while there were 6-4 wins for Unison A and Hollinwood E against Coldhurst A and First Transport respectively.

Werneth D went to the top of division three thanks to a 6-4 victory over Grotton B, the scoreline by which Coldhurst B edged out Owls A.

Honeywell D maintained their good form with a 7-3 win against Community Centre, the margin of victory enjoyed by Gilders B against Failsworth D.

Division four front-runners Coldhurst B beat Deaf Club 9-1, Honeywell Lane E also recording a similar margin of victory in their match with Werneth F.

The other three matches all brought 7-3 wins for Unison D at OTTC C, Saddleworth CC against Coldhurst F and Werneth E against Owls B.
