Harriers hit the road

RUNNERS from Oldham and Royton Harriers have been pounding the roads over the holidays.
Pete Williams and Charlotte Ashton competed at the 'Hot Toddy' event, Williams finishing 86th in 39:29 and Ashton 182nd with 48:14.
Williams then led his colleagues home in New Year's Day's Joe Salt race at Whitworth, finishing 46th in 33:39, ahead of John Kane (57th, 34:35), Lorna Hill (74th, 36:30), Sara Bott (86th, 38:59) and Sandrine Fraisse (102nd, 42:18).
The Pennine 10k at Brighouse saw Sam Witter come 49th in 41:45, followed by Williams (60th, 43:00), James Witter (67th, 43:31), Derek Atherton (80th, 44:42), Mark Mannings (98th, 46:22) and Darren Mannings (142nd, 50:05) as the team came fifth overall.
The ladies' team came third thanks to runs by Louise Clarkson (96th, 46:13), Hill (112th, 47:27), Bott (145th, 50:21), Ashton (156th, 51:57) and Jodie Fairbrother (182nd, 54:07).
Indoors, Paula Booth began her track season at Sport City with a personal best of 10.47s for the 60m hurdles and 9.33s for the 60m.
