Fitton Cup victory almost a Shaw thing

GLYN Webb Oldham Sunday League division three club Fitton Hill Rangers almost produced a big Challenge Cup upset against top-flight club Shaw FC.

Having led 3-0 at half-time, they conceded three second-half goals to end up with a draw and a replay.

Elsewhere, White Hart won 4-2 at Sun Inn, Crompton's Waggon and Horses prevailed 8-1 over Junction Premier, while Boundary Park Old Boys won their replay 3-1 at Parkside.

In the Premier Division, Orb closed the gap on leaders High Crompton to a point after beating 3D Dynamos A 5-4.

Summit Inn beat Failsworth Athletic 3-1, Shaw Athletic triumphed 5-1 at Pine Villa Youth, while Dog Inn beat Royton Band Club 7-2.

With division one leaders White Hart in cup action, FC Paris and Chaddy End closed the gap with a 4-2 win over Church Inn and a 3-1 victory over Haughton Athletic respectively.

There was also a 4-0 victory for Clayton Athletic at Boarshaw Hotel.

Division two's top game produced a 4-0 win for Byron Street over leaders Hollins.

Goalkeeper Paul Fitton scored for Manor as they lost 7-4 at Wellington, Top House triumphed 5-0 at Moorside's Waggon and Horses, while 3D Dynamos B won 6-4 at Westwood.

In division three, Grasshoppers and Limehurst Victoria shared eight goals, while Royton Athletic won 4-3 at Rifle Range.

The match between Old Grey Mare and Big Shorts was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
