Diggers strike Gold

SIX months of hard work came to end with the final day tournament for teams in the OCL Junior Netball League.

Over 250 girls representing four divisions competed at Oldham Ball Hall in what proved a closely-contested event.

The honours went to Gold Diggers (Premier Division tournament); Smarties (First Division tournament); Smarti-Pants (Second Division tournament and Third Division league); Saddleworth Storm (Premier Division league); Red Rhinetts (First Division league); Shooting Stars, Lizards (joint Second Division league); and Blue Birds (joint Third Division league with Smarti-Pants).

Special awards went to: Tom Lally, Helen Percy, Lisa Martin (team managers); Latics (most improved team); Dare Devils (most dedicated team); Bethany Kelly (best newcomer); Alexis Crawley (most improved player); Bethany Derbyshire and Melissa Howe (most dedicated players); Erika Kanga (most valuable junior); Katy Wretham (most valuable senior).
