Town take positives from loss

TOWN exited the Lancashire Cup at the second round stage to Merseyside giants Speke thanks to a goal in each half.
Speke looked the part with an abundance of young talented players and played some fine flowing football, although Town were not overawed by the occasion.
The Liverpool side took the lead on the half-hour which seemed to relax them as they began to play the ball around.
Although Town threw everything at Speke in the second half, they were unable to force an equaliser and went further behind on 73 minutes as the weather conditions helped the ball over the keeper and into the top corner from 30 yards.
Town's second team lost 3-2 at Monton Amateurs, Danny Hicks and Pete Wild on target.
