ROYTON Town lost their second straight game by the odd goal as they went down 3-2 at Rochdale Sacred Heart.
Andy Westphal went close with an early header superbly saved by the Rochdale keeper.
The hosts took the lead two minutes before the break, but Town levelled two minutes into the second half as Dean Smith scored.
However, Rochdale retook the lead a minute later before adding a third on the hour.
Chris Mackay's eighth goal of the season on 83 minutes made it a grandstand final few minutes.
Town's second team lost 5-1 against Stockport Georgians, Danny Edwards-Jones scoring on his debut.
