Paula overcomes numerous hurdles

OLDHAM and Royton Harriers' Paula Booth ended the track season by competing in three events.

She won the 80m and 200m hurdles at the Yorkshire Veterans Championship before coming fourth in the 100m hurdles and sixth in the shot put at the Civil Service Open Championship.

That was followed by victories in the shot put, javelin and discus, along with second place in the 100m, 200m, 80m hurdles and high jump at the Civil Service Masters Championship.

On the road, Louise Clarkson and Sara Bott set personal bests of 101:41 and 108:24 in the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Half Marathon. Pete Williams finished in 95:08.

Derek Atherton ran the Boggart Chase 10k around Boggart Hole Clough in 43:42, while daughter Grace ran the 3,000m event in 13:19 for 18th place.

Fourteen athletes competed in the Ron Hill 5k race in Littleborough, Danny Murphy leading them home in 20:36 followed by Derek Atherton (20:58), Pete Williams (21:14), Louise Clarkson (21:43), Rachel Jones (22:24), Jessica Clarkson (22:24) and Ben Coltas (22:24).

The other finishers were Grace Atherton (24:09), Brent Armistead (24:51), Sandrine Fraisse (25:22), Lauren Morrow (25:27), Caroline Jones (26:35), Victoria Coltas (31:19) and Isobel Coltas (31:49).
