Champs’ first-day defeat

OLDHAM and District Table Tennis League division champions OTTC lost their opening match 6-4 to Werneth A.

That was also the score by which Honeywell Lane A defeated Glodwick, while Hollinwood A beat their B team 8-2 and BAe A won against their B side.

Uppermill A opened up with an 8-2 victory over Honeywell B in division two, as did Grotton A against Unison A and Honeywell C over Pennine.

In division three, Failsworth's C and D sides beat Gilders B and A 6-4, the score by which Werneth D beat Unison B.

Elsewhere, Honeywell D beat Owls A 9-1 while there were 7-3 victories for Grotton B against Unison C and Coldhurst B against their C team.

Division four saw Saddleworth CC fail to show for their match against Deaf Club, while Werneth E and F drew with Unison D and Coldhurst F.

There were 7-3 wins for Honeywell E and Coldhurst D against Coldhurst E and OTTC C respectively, while Uppermill beat Failsworth E 8-2.
