Harriers’ medal swoop

OLDHAM and Royton Harriers' senior ladies team ran superbly to take bronze in the Greater Manchester Road Relays event at Blackpool's Stanley Park.
Louise Clarkson led the team off, running her 6,000m leg in 26:17 before handing to Tracy Delaney (28:55) who then saw Sara Bott (27:18) bring the team home in third.
The under-17s men's race saw the trio of Mike Mannings (22:39), Shaun Barber (25:01) and Danny Murphy (24:09) finish fourth, as did the under-15s girls team of Lorna Hill (11:41), Rachel Jones (12:29) and Jessica Clarkson (12:21) who raced 3,000m legs.
The under-15s boys event saw Sam Witter race on his own with Harriers unable to field a full team. He was third after his 3,000m, having run a leg of 10:14.
The senior men's 4 x 6,000m relay saw the team finish ninth thanks to the displays of Reece Hendley (20:58), Owen Flage (23:12), Pete Williams (25:19) and Brian Schofield (20:01).
