Springhead stalemate

ROYTON Town made it four games without defeat in the Air Miles Manchester Football League with a well-earned 1-1 point at Springhead.
The match was played at a good pace throughout as Town took the lead in bizarre fashion.
An attempted clearance from the Springhead keeper fell at the feet of Chris Mackay who fired home with the keeper stranded wide of his goal.
Town deserved to go further in front with chances created by Ian Hulme and Matty Cowling, only for Springhead to level on the stroke of half-time.
Everything seemed safe as Mark Davis picked the ball up on the halfway line, only to dance past a couple of Town players and hit an unstoppable shot.
Although both teams threatened in the second half, it was a surprise that no further goals were scored.
