SAEED Anwar continued his personal crusade to make Crompton the top local team in the Lake Garage CLL as he inspired them to victory against Rochdale on Saturday.

He made an unbeaten 129 as Crompton reached 171-8 before taking 4-24 as Rochdale were limited to 151-9 in reply.

Simon Wright also chipped in with four wickets.

It was a poor weekend for Werneth who were beaten by Littleborough on Saturday and Oldham the following day.

Saturday had seen them dismissed for 166 despite 95 from Heino Kuhn, while Alan Durose's figures of 6-50 could not prevent Littleborough from eventually reaching their target with two wickets in hand.

Werneth were indebted to ex-Lancashire man Darren Shadford for giving them something to defend on Sunday.

He made 90 as Werneth were all out for 165, Martin Smith returning figures of 5-78 for Oldham who totalled 166-6 in reply.

It was a weekend of contrasts for Royton who beat Radcliffe by five wickets having lost by nine wickets to Norden the day before.

Asif Mujtaba took 5-32 as Norden dismissed Royton for 130 before hitting an undefeated 56 as Norden cruised to victory.

However, bottom club Radcliffe provided less of a test on Sunday as they were all out for 152, Royton reaching 154-5 in reply.

Oldham were not in action on the Saturday, while it was Crompton's turn to have a day off the following day.
