Harriers’ Paula produces Master-ful performance

OLDHAM and Royton Harriers' Paula Booth showed her younger team-mates how it is done by taking bronze in the 80m hurdles at the British Masters Track and Field Championships.

Elsewhere, the senior team booked their spot in the North of England Knockout Plate final.

The ladies events saw wins for Emily Shaw (200m), Booth (100m), and Marie Dixon (javelin).

There was also a double relay win for Shaw, Natalie Fletcher, Mel Turner and Katie Keeley.

There were second places for Fletcher (100m), Dixon (hammer), Turner (400m and triple jump) and Keeley (high jump).

The men's section saw wins for Dave Hurst (100m) and Trevor Davies (5,000m).

Second places went to Hurst (200m), Steve Williams (javelin), Reece Hendley (800m), plus the relay runners Hurst, Hendley, Colin Allen, Marcus Osborne and Mike Mannings.

Five Harriers athletes competed in the final match of the UK Athletics Young Athletes League.

Mike Rigby won the hammer and shot put, while also setting a personal best in the discus.

Rachel Connolly set bests in the 300m and discus, as did Mike Mannings over 1,500m and Mark Mannings in the shot.

Shaun Barber ran well in the 800m and long jumped 3.76m.
