Newtonhurst at the double

NEWTONHURST enjoyed a good weekend against Radclyffe II in the Ashton and Oldham Cricket Alliance, recording back-to-back victories.

Saturday's league match saw them limit Radclyffe to 132-9 before Simpson hit 76 not out in their 134-4.

The following day brought a 33-run win in the Fawcett-Penney Supplementary Cup.

Batting first, Newtonhurst were dismissed for 152 with Radclyffe 119 all out in reply.

Radclyffe I had an eight-wicket win at St Mary's HC as the hosts were 51 all out.

Bharat went second in the table after beating Waterhead Methodist by eight wickets.

St Anne's took four points against Jay Hind II, restricting them to 121-6 while Lee's unbeaten 63 saw them 123-4.

St Mary's OPC and Europa Exiles finished level.

Exiles made 114-7 and then saw Harwood take 4-26 to dismiss St Mary's for 114.

Levenshulme Cavaliers won by seven wickets against Cane Studios as McConnell's unbeaten 107 saw them home to 224-3 in reply to 220-7.
