Lake Garage Central Lancashire League

A DOUBLE weekend defeat has left Oldham perilously close to the foot of the Lake Garage Central Lancashire League.

Saturday saw them crumble to a seven-wicket defeat against Milnrow at the Pollards where they were all out for 129 batting first.

The following day then brought a 119-run defeat against Royton who they had restricted to 67-6 at one point.

However, 74 from Majid Khan saw Royton reach 215-9 before four wickets from Neil Broom and three for Martin Bell saw Oldham all out for 96.

It was the second win of the weekend for Royton who had defeated Radcliffe by 10 runs the day before.

Batting first, Royton compiled 226-4 thanks to 87 from Broom while five wickets from Anthony Percy saw Radcliffe all out for 216 in reply.

Littleborough took over at the top of the table after Werneth were beaten by 84 runs at Norden on Saturday.

Asif Mujtaba hit 107 as the hosts compiled 264-7 and then limited Werneth to 180-7 in reply despite Darren Shadford's half-century.

However, it was business as usual on Sunday as Werneth defeated Crompton by 62 runs in the borough's other CLL derby.

The hosts reached 273-6 batting first with professional Heino Kuhn leading the way through a run-a-ball 106.

Stuart Moore added a quickfire half-century, while Alan Durose chipped in with 35 and Matthew Harival 22.

In reply, Glen Rigby went early on before Glenn Dawson and professional Saeed Anwar added 74 for the second wicket.

Rigby was dismissed for 30 before Anwar went, caught by Harival off Durose for 59.

Although Darren Graham and Manjula Panawennage put on a good stand for the fourth wicket, Werneth efficiently dispatched the rest of Crompton's line-up as Shadford ended with figures of 5-46.
