Saddleworth are crushed

23/ 3/2005

Crosfields 62
Saddleworth Rangers
14

SADDLEWORTH'S relegation fears worsened following this crushing defeat at Crosfields.

Three early tries from the home side gave Rangers a mountain to climb and by half-time the game was all but over.

However, Saddleworth began to make more of a match of it after their half-time teamtalk.

Danny Corrigan crossed for a brace of tries and Andy Kirwan added a try and a goal.

Kirwan was named man of the match for Rangers but the game proved to be a very steep learning curve for Saddleworth's young set of players who stare the drop in the face.

  • A SECOND-HALF rally could still not prevent Saddleworth Rangers' under-11s losing 18-16 at home to Weaverham.

A much-improved defensive display saw them shut the visitors out in the second half.

Despite a brace of tries from top tackler Luke Senior and one from man of the match, Jack Ford they were eventually unable to claw back the deficit.

Matthew Coombs was named most improved player while conversions came from Ford, Liam Wilcock and Nathan Shaw-Langhorn.
