One Bridge too many

RL Round-Up

WATERHEAD exited the National Cup when they lost 18-12 against Ince Rose Bridge.

Waterhead were still on the bus for the first 13 minutes and were guilty of a succession of errors and poor defence which allowed Ince to build up a 10-0 lead.

Waterhead's game then settled down and they started to produce some expansive rugby.

Lee Charlesworth pulled a try back and then Paul Joyce finished a flowing move across the field to dive in at the corner.

Kiel Lancashire converted both tries to give Waterhead a 12-10 half-time lead.

In the second half Waterhead put Ince under constant pressure with three clear cut chances to score but they just failed to get the ball over the line.

The local side paid the price when a fine passing movement saw Ince score another try to edge 14-12 ahead.

And the game was settled in the final minute when Waterhead failed to deal with a high kick and Ince went over to secure their passage into the next round.
