9/ 2/2005
Saddleworth Rangers 12
Eastmoor 15
DESPITE fielding four under-18s players, Rangers pushed National Conference second division leaders Eastmoor all the way at Greenfield.
Saddleworth led 6-4 at the interval after responding to a 20th minute Tim Phillips try with a try and conversion from fullback Gareth Davies.
The visitors added two Lee Joyce penalties after the restart and then a 70th minute try from John Barraclough with Joyce again adding the extras.
A Ken Brown drop goal extended the lead to 15-6.
With five minutes left, winger Danny Corrigan crossed and with Davies adding the extras they made Eastmoor sweat for the points.
Rangers' under-12s are out of the North West Counties Cup after losing 10-0 at Bold Miners, while the under-11s won 36-8 at Culceth.
