Trialists fail to shine
2/ 2/2005
TRIALISTS Alan Kilshaw and Rob Barraclough have been released by the Roughyeds.
Gary Mercer made the decision after watching them train for two months and play in friendlies.
Chairman, Chris Hamilton, said: "Gary gave them three matches as promised and made a quick decision that he would not be pursuing his interest."
Cook Islanders Tere Glassie and Carlos Mataora should arrive this week with Jonathan Wilson - still awaiting a work permit - to follow.
Another departure is Gavin Johnson who has joined Greater Manchester Police and is unable to play part-time sport.
Mercer is scouring the amateur ranks to strengthen his pack and hopes to have two signatures soon.
The club have also confirmed Keith Brennan as Mercer's deputy.
