Seven of the worst for Manor Park men

26/ 1/2005

Oldham RUFC 10
Aspatria 18

OLDHAM suffered a seventh consecutive league defeat and now face a relegation battle in North Two West.

Despite being boosted by the return to action of pack man Dave Worrall it was the visitors who stormed into the lead at Manor Park through a Steve Stoddard penalty and then a try by prop Gary Harrison from a rolling maul.

Oldham hit back from a scrum when Gary Tuson fed full back Peter Scrivens and he slipped in Dave Kenney to cross in the corner.

But Aspatria then added a second and crucial try in the dying seconds of the opening half from another maul finished off by Mike Bowe.

Oldham rallied well after the break but - despite notching another try from Marlon Miller - they were unable to breach a defiant Aspatria line again.

The defeat leaves Oldham one place above the trap door and with a tricky trip to Fleetwood on Saturday.
