GARY Mercer has hailed the latest Cook Islander in his first-team squad as an "exciting prospect".
Jonathan Wilson, a 22-year-old prop forward, signed last week after a three-month battle for the player's services.
He is the third Roughyeds signing made following the recommendation of Cook Islands team boss Kevin Iro.
"Jon is a big strapping lad of about 115 kilos and he's looking forward to a big career in the game," Mercer said.
"We were delighted to give him an opportunity. He's very powerful driving forward and will add some much needed bulk to our pack."
