Town fail to ground the Air Miles leaders

ROYTON Town's battle against Air Miles Manchester League top flight leaders Irlam MS proved to no avail as they went down 3-0.

Brian Fothergill saw his effort ruled out for offside before Irlam scored twice in 14 minutes at the end of the opening half.

Midfielders Danny Taylor and Gareth Morris continued to battle for Royton, creating chances that Town were unable to capitalise on as Irlam scored their third on 86 minutes.

Town's second team saw their match against their Stockport Georgians counterparts postponed because of a frozen pitch.
