Injury mars fine Trophy triumph
10/11/2004

OLDHAM reached the Lancashire Trophy semi-final by claiming a 12-6 victory at Broughton Park.
Yet again it came at a price though with an Oldham player suffering a serious injury for the second successive match.
Rob Fryer needed 21 stitches in a head wound following a fracas in the closing stages of the match.
Oldham fell behind early on to two penalties by Steve O'Connor and had to be at their best defensively until a penalty by Jon Farrell on 35 minutes reduced the arrears.
A try by Peter Scrivens, following a great break by Simon Gledhill, gave Oldham an 8-6 half-time lead. Two second-half penalties by Farrell then wrapped up the game for Oldham.
