ROYTON Town were desperately unlucky to lose 1-0 against Atherton Town in the Air Miles Manchester League Premier Division.
They fell to a sucker punch midway through the second half when keeper Phil Haigh - attempting a clearance - proceeded to hit an Atherton forward with the ball rebounding into the net.
The nearest they came to equalising was a Callum Frizzell effort that cannoned off the post in the 88th minute.
Their second team came away from lowly Third Division club Old Alts with a disappointing 2-2 draw.
Oldham Town were knocked out of the North West Counties League Cup as they lost 1-0 at Leek CSOB.
The only goal came four minutes into injury time as Town players stopped for what they thought was a foul, allowing Liam McMann to score the winner.
Chaddy Hoppers' under-eights sides both reached round two of the cup.
The reds defeated Bury Amateurs Warriors 2-1, with goals from Ethan Lord and Daniel Ratcliffe.
The yellows had a 10-0 win against Radcliffe Juniors.
Thomas Redfern and Reece Howcroft both scored hat-tricks while the others came from Gilly Clarke (two), Jamie Pollinger and Judd Brown.
