Oldham stopped the rot with CLL victory over lowly Stand at The Paddock last weekend.

After winning the toss and asking the visitors to bat, it was paid man Martin Smith who yet again starred with the ball, taking six wickets for 45. Stand were all out for 169 with only David Taylor (72) offering much resistance.

In reply, Oldham made a bad start with openers Heino Kuhn and Paul Thompson both back in the pavilion by the fifth over having scored just one run each. But the ship was soon steadied by youngster Luke Proctor (26), Smith (30) and Liam Garnett (33) as Oldham reached their target with 12 overs to spare.

The four-wicket win takes Oldham back into the top six and retains the honour of being the highest-placed local side.

In-form Crompton continued their march up the table with a 46-run defeat of fourth-placed Walsden.
