WOODHOUSES remain fourth in the Lancashire County League after a weekend which saw fixtures hit by the weather.

Saturday's home game with Denton was abandoned, but they had better luck the next day when they travelled to the division one leaders Prestwich.

The hosts could only manage 159, Steve Orrell top-scoring on 56, with Chris Reeves taking five wickets for 31 runs.

Daniel Brotton then hit 44 as Woodhouses coasted home on 162 -4.

The win leaves Chris Atherton's side fourth in the table on 45 points with Dunkinfield third (46), Denton St Lawrence (49) second and Prestwich (57) still at the summit.

This weekend sees Woodhouses looking to boost their title hopes against one of the league's strugglers.

Flowery Field, in their first season in the Lancashire County League, host the Medlock Road men on Sunday.
