THE successful Hope and Anchor team plot their course to Vilamoura.

A ROYTON pub's golf team was hoping to be in the swing of things as they battled for a chance to take their talents overseas and compete against the best of the rest from Great Britain.
The Hope and Anchor, Sandy Lane, saw its team of Kris Sutcliffe, Pete Davies, Mike Shaw and Pete Allen compete in the Bass Ale Golfing Pub of the Year regional final at Blackpool last weekend.
They had qualified for that event after a storming performance in the area final which took place at Portal Golf Club, Tarporley.
Victory in the regional final would send them into the national finals held at the prestigious Portuguese course Vilamoura in September.
The Golfing Pub of the Year competition is now in its 10th year with over 7,500 players - in men's, ladies and mixed teams - competing across the country, all aiming for victory at Vilamoura.
