Farnell shocks champ Murphy

WOODHOUSES Warrior Anthony Farnell regained his WBU middlweight title last weekend with a stunning victory against defending champion Lawrence Murphy.
Fighting in Murphy's backyard at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, a clearly revitalised Farnell put Murphy on the canvas three times in three rounds.
Referee Dave Parris eventually called a halt ot proceedings when another savage blow left Murphy facing the ropes with Farnell raining punches to the back of his head.
Victory - Farnell's 33rd in 36 contests - was effectively a drink in the last chance saloon with many boxing pundits wondering where he would go should Murphy have made a successful first defence of the title.
One match that would appear to be ruled out is a rematch with Wayne Elcock - the man who took Farnell's title and then lost to Murphy in his defence.
After the fight, Farnell said that he would make Elcock wait, much as the Brummie had done to him.
