Disappointed at point

JOHN Sheridan could not hide his disappointment after a late Tranmere Rovers equaliser robbed him of his fourth win as Latics' caretaker boss.

His side were coasting to victory before a botched offside trap enabled Eugene Dadi's strike to snatch a point.

Sheridan said: "I'm very disappointed we didn't come away with three points because I thought our second half performance deserved the win."

"I don't think it was a good game and we've played a lot better."

"It was a scrappy game all over but I said to the lads at half-time 'this is going to be a one-nil' and I don't mind winning those type of games and wish we would win more of them."

"Les Pogliacomi has not have a save to make. Tranmere are not a bad team and are on a good run but again it was a sloppy goal to concede."

"I think we're very attack-minded and are always trying to play the perfect ball at the perfect time."

"Sometimes you just have to knock a high ball into the box instead and it might come off."

Despite his frustrations, Sheridan again praised his players for their commitment under his charge.

He said: "Some of those lads were not even in the reserves last season and they have been a different class with me."

"It's just been a matter of inches at times and keeping on your toes and concentrating and hopefully that will come."

"That's what the good teams do - they concentrate for the full 90 minutes."
