WATERHEAD were taken to the cleaners in this local National Conference division two derby.

Still missing several players, they had no answer to Mayfield stand-off Sam Butterworth who notched two tries, four goals and had a hand in five more tries.

Chris McAndrew and John Thewliss gave the local side some respite with a try apiece and one conversion midway through the first-half to peg the score at 10-14 to Mayfield.

However, on the final play of the half, Butterworth got his second try and conversion to give his side a 20-10 lead at the break.

Poor Waterhead tackling let Butterworth run loose in the second half and Mayfield registered five more tries plus two conversions.

Young kicker Danny Hewitt got a late consolation try goaled by Jon Perks to give some respectability to the final scoreline.
