Drop ruling due

THE Oldham and District Table Tennis League season has ended with the committee meeting to decide who will be relegated from division three.

Honeywell D were already relegated but the match in question is Coldhurst D’s 8-2 victory over their previously unbeaten B team who did not field any of their regular players, a result which left Coldhurst D level on points with Failsworth C.

Elsewhere, all the other outstanding issues have been resolved with Coldhurst B wininng the division three title ahead of Grotton B.

Glodwick TTC are division one champions for a second consecutive year, ahead of Werneth A, while Werneth C and Wardle were relegated.

First Transport took top spot in division two, Rosehill B capturing second spot as their 9-1 victory at Werneth D saw them finish two points ahead of Unison A whose B team finished in a relegation place with Gilders A.

Saddleworth CC’s 6-4 win at Werneth F means they are promoted as divisoon four champions, five points ahead of Deaf Club.

There was also an unprecedented cup double for Oldham Ladies and Mens Vets teams, the ladies winning the Mabel Neary Cup with a 5-3 defeat of Manchester, while the men brushed aside Preston 5-1 to lift the Dennis Smith Memorial Trophy.
