Oldham Roughyeds 18 Salford City Reds 14

MICK Nanyn's 78th minute try saw the Roughyeds stun full-timers Salford to come away with victory from an absorbing Northern Rail Cup tie at Boundary Park.
A disappointing crowd of 1,350 saw Salford take the lead when Andrew Brocklehurst touched down from his own kick. However, Oldham responded as James Coyle, Neil Roden and Marcus St Hilaire all combined to send Danny Halliwell over for a try goaled by Nanyn.
Andrew Ballard's excellent solo try, which he also converted, re-established Salford's advantage but with Rob Roberts and Lee Jewitt both sinbinned, it was Oldham who led at the break.
They took a 12-10 advantage into half-time when Coyle nipped through a gap in the Salford defence before scoring near to the posts, Nanyn with the conversion.
Jordan Turner's try put Salford two points ahead at 14-12, but with time running out, Nanyn touched down wide out on the left-hand side before adding the touchline conversion for good measure.
