Roughyeds' player move held up

THE Roughyeds suffered a temporary setback in their bid to sign a new player as the Advertiser went to press.

With chairman Chris Hamilton away on holiday, an unnamed player was set to meet coach Steve Deakin on Tuesday afternoon at which he was expected to agree a deal to join in 2007.

However, a last minute hitch meant the player was unable to make the appointment, meaning any move is on hold for the moment.

In accordance with club policy, no name will be revealed until the player has signed his contract.

Said Tamghart, Wes Rogers, Neil Roden, Simeon Hoyle, John Hough, Alan Hadcroft, Lee Wingfield, Carl Jones, Alex Wilkinson, Andy Gorey and Chris Baines are already signed up for the 2007 campaign with pre-season training set to begin at the start of November.

Club officials are hoping new signings will be made before the end of next week.

TICKETS remain available for the club's sporting dinner at the Social Club on Thursday, October 26. Referee Steve Ganson is the guest speaker, Herbie James will provide the comedy, while Michael 'Braddy' Bradshaw is the MC. Tickets are £25 or £250 plus VAT for a corporate table of 10.
