Group elections due

SUPPORTERS group Rugby Oldham is staging its first democratic board elections at a special general meeting next month.

It takes place on Thursday, April 6 at the Roughyeds' Social Club on Alfred Street, Werneth, starting at 7.45pm.

The meeting will be open to Trust members only, although there will be the facility to join the Trust and take part on the night as 11 hopefuls bid to fill eight board positions.

The candidates are: Michael Ackroyd (finance manager and accountant); Iain Ashworth (chartered accountant); Dave Blackburn (retired farmer); Geoff Cooke (businessman); Charlotte Deakin (college learning resource worker); Ian Etchells (retired accountant); Tim Hughes (solicitor); Linda Mills (business manager); Iain Taylor (business development manager); Brian Walker (businessman/rugby league author); and Simon Winnard (management consultant).

The Trust has also announced the setting up of an online shop where items bought earns it commission.
